You all know the story of the Dragonets of Destiny. They were raised by the Talons of Peace, meant to fight evil, and even though the prophecy was false, they ended up saving the world anyway. Now, forget all that. In a different reality, everything is changed. What if the new caretakers find 10 eggs instead of 5, all different from the originals? What if Blister, Blaze, and Burn were so dedicated to their takeover that they started a nuclear apocalypse? What if Scarlet, hidden away in her arena, was plotting to control the dragonets and the continent's future? What if…

Welcome to a darker, fragmented reality, where destruction and death flood the streets, and where even glimmers of hope are few and far between.

Prologue[]

Ok, let’s start from the beginning. You all know what happened, but remember, this isn’t the regular Pyrrhia you all know and love.

Hvitur, an IceWing, attempts to steal a large SkyWing egg from Queen Scarlet's palace for the prophecy. Luckily, he doesn’t get captured by Scarlet's ally, one of the three contenders for the SandWing throne, Burn. But remember, she never realizes that he is a member of the Talons of Peace and the egg is of the SkyWing Dragonet from the Dragonet Prophecy, and then drops the egg off a cliff, supposedly ruining the prophecy. She then kills Hvitur by shredding his wings and stabbing him through his skull with her venomous tail. But here’s the thing, Kestrel was there. She flew and caught the egg on its way down. Burn then throws his corpse off the cliff and flies away, telling her soldiers about wanting to kill something else.

Sometime later, Kestrel, a fellow member of the Talons of Peace, recovers the egg and brings it back to a cave underneath an unknown mountain in Claws of the Clouds Mountains. She informs Webs, another member of the Talons of Peace, of Hvitur's death. Webs tell her that Asha, the member who delivered a MudWing egg, escaped a battle between Blaze and Blister.

Remember, Asha never delivered Clay, so forget that Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny ever existed. Here’s the news, Glory was killed by a NightWing and Starflight drowned. The rest were killed at their hatching by the three contenders, for fear that they were the dragonets. And Morrowseer made a typo in the prophecy, there were 10 dragons.

That egg then gets Kestrel frustrated and says they should just break all the eggs they had retrieved and run away before the rest of the Talons of Peace come for the dragonets of destiny. Webs disagrees with her and insists that they need the Pantalan Dragonets. Kestrel tells him that there was no way Queen Wasp would let them get ahold of a SilkWing or a HiveWing, and they wouldn’t be able to get a LeafWing. The Lost Continent legend wasn’t a legend then, they knew about it. The hives would be heavily guarded by now, and it would be foolish to come running back for another egg. But Webs goes to Pantala anyway, he dies in an attack from Queen Wasp. A SeaWing was stationed outside of Pantala and he grabs the eggs, soon delivering it back to the Talons of Peace and that’s where we’ll start our story.

Chapter 1[]

SIX YEARS LATER

Mako was sitting in a pool of water watching all the other dragonets relate to the teachers, and flipping a dagger around. Sighing, he walked up to them. If Webs had survived the attack, he would know someone besides Sleet and Cougar, who were up there talking to Kestrel and Dune with the others. He walks into his hollow and practices his swordsmanship. After hanging his sword on the wall he walks up to a classroom and sits down for combat practice. He sat in the empty room for what seemed like hours before the rest of the Dragonets and Scorch came in. Scorch began teaching them about history, how the war of SandWing Succession began and about the Scorching, and how it separated Pyrrhia and Pantala. After a while, he got bored and pretended to listen. The rest of the Dragonets were actually listening to Scorch. Soon enough they get dismissed,

“Okay, escape-the-talons-of-peace time?” they asked when they were out of earshot.

“Yep,” he answered. They begin plotting their escape plan. Sleet grabs a scroll off the wall, A map, they thought to themselves. Handing it to them, he gazed at the vast room, only Cougar, Mako, and Sleet were there. There was a Flamesilk, a Firescales, a Fire Resistance scales, a Leafspeak, and Rainbowstar Scales. Well, whatever about the Rainbowstar Scales, they didn’t help that much. Anyway, how about we introduce you to the Dragonets of Destiny. I’m the narrator, and if you can’t take this anymore, I suggest you put this book down.

Chapter 2[]

So there they were, plotting to escape the Talons of Peace, and it just so happens that Jararaca is watching them look at the map. Sheesh, getting Mako out will be hard he thought to himself. Mako is blind, but has incredible precision and knowledge, of course, he isn’t the Starflight kind of guy here, that’s Cougar. So whatever, let’s shut up about that and cut to the chase. Suddenly a burst of color flies in through each side of the room, Voiceless and Jararaca both burst in. Sleet shushes them then Jararaca tells them that he’s in on the escape.

“Fine, fine!” Mako mutters.

“We’re planning to get the key from Dune, it’s simple. I’ll knock Dune unconscious, Jararaca you go to Kestrel and bonk her on the head, but remember no venom, then if we get Nightshadewith us, he can do something about Scorch with his bugs,” Sleet says simply, letting the plan escape his mouth. Luckily, they were out of earshot.

“Okay, we’re going tonight,” Voiceless’ voice box said.

“How about I get Dragontail to make a new one for you when we escape, he’s the one who created these glasses,” Mako suggested as he put on his glasses. Okay, so here’s the deal when Mako uses his glasses, he can see things in a white outline, but everything else is black. He can only tell what something is by looking at the outline.

“Okay,” the voice box mutters.

Jararaca folds his wings and flies straight outta there. He hears some negotiating and then Nightshade burst into the room,

“Anyone need help?” he muttered in a low growl

“Yes, we need you to use Leafspeak or some bugs to knock Scorch out,” Sleet says emotionlessly.

“And why?” he asked.

“Oh, you’re doing it,” Jararaca said as he opened his mouth to show the gleaming fangs.

TThere was an annoyed look in Nightshade’s eyes, suddenly vines grew all over Jararaca and trapped him, grunts of pain echoing across the room, Nightshadbrought them over his mouth.

“Now that we’ve taken care of him, what do we do?” he asked happily.

“I’ll knock Dune out with the handle of my dagger,” Mako said simply.

“Are you sure you can do that, I mean you’re blind,” Cougar said reluctantly.

Mako banged the handle of his dagger onto the pile of vines that was Jararaca and heard a ‘boom’ and then a cry of pain and a ‘crash’ then everything went silent and they walked out of the room.

“Three, two, one!” they yelled and smashed inside, banging daggers and controlling leaves like they’ve done it their entire lives, and then more banging. Dune and Kestrel had been knocked out and Scorch was entering the Jararaca state at that point.

“Okay, let’s escape I guess,” they say blankly.

“Lemur, round up the rest of the dragonets, if they don’t listen use force,” Mako ordered. He trotted into their rooms, asking them to come out. Cougar grabs a key and unlocks the door as Sleet slashes all the vines away from Jararaca.

“Escape time,” he announces. Not giving the rest of the Dragonets enough time to even ask what was happening, they all sprint out of the room.

“Once you get enough momentum start flying!” Jararaca screams.

Lemur uses leafspeak to swing tree to tree, as Moth uses her flamesilk to do the same.

They were finally free, free from the burden that bound them to the prophecy so tightly.

But they didn’t know how messed up the world was.
