Prologue:[]

Two dragons flew over the SkyWing horizon, laughing as they swooped and dived. Copper and silvery pale blue scales gleamed in the afternoon sun, and as they glided over the mountains and into the forest, the ball of silver scales tumbled down into the trees, the copper one following suit.

"That was amazing," breathed Seashell, collapsing onto the ground for a moment, and catching her breath. In the shade of the trees, she looked like she was glowing- and she was, as her fluorescent SeaWing scales lit up in the darkness. Peak brushed twigs off his metallic orange scales and stretched his wings, catching what sunlight was there.

For half a minute, it seemed peaceful.

Then there was a sound of flapping wings, and Seashell scrambled to her talons, and Peak whipped around, his eyes shining with fear as he looked up. A flash of red scales in the sky- a SkyWing patrol.

All along they had been following them- it was stupid to rest. After releasing one of their prisoners- a SeaWing, to be exact, he knew that the Queen would go after them. And here they were. He had failed. But he would try to save her. He would try.

How did he get into this? Was it the SeaWing's charming smile that melted his heart? He should have been proud of his own kingdom, bow to Queen Scarlet, but after meeting Seashell, Peak realized how horrible Scarlet could be, and all that she had done. And now, all he wanted to do was to protect this SeaWing from everything.

"Seashell," he said quietly, tugging at her forearm. "We have to run."

"Then let's go! They're coming!" Seashell ran between the trees, and Peak followed, and though he wasn't as fast as Seashell was, his panic made him faster. However, Seashell was already ahead of him, and he could only sense her through the noises as she made as her body slipped through the trees.
