Preface- Mistreatment[]
"Mom? Dad?" a young car aged 13 said. 35-year-old Cade Davisson grumpily asked, "What, Leris?" Leris Davisson asked quietly, "Why did you name me Leris?" The older car replied, "Because it's a cross between loser and Terris." 33-year-old May Davisson added smugly, "And Terris is a cross between terrible and Harris." (Terris is just a name, it's not a cross between anything) Leris looked down and teared up. His mother glared at him and said, "If you're going to cry, cry into your heart pillow. When we used to love you." The father added smugly, "'Used to love you'." Leris felt the same overwhelming pain. Emotional pain.
Chapter One- Dinnertime[]
Three hours later after going up-ramp, his parents called him down for dinner. They looked smugly at each other, waiting for the 13-year-old to come down. Leris came down, sadness in his electric-blue gaze. He looked at his 'dinner', which was one single pea.
His blue eyes teared up, and he looked up at his parents and said, "More? Please?"
They glared at their slightly underweight son and commanded, "EAT IT!"
He looked down at the pea, and said, "It's too small." Leris looked at their dinner. Chicken with dressing, a full serving of peas, and King's Hawaiian bread. He pointed at the chicken and gave his parents a pleading look.
Cade's eyes narrowed and he took Leris violently and threw him to the ground! "EAT. IT!" Leris cried out in pain.
He pleaded pitifully, "Please."
May said, "If you don't eat the pea, we'll kick you out! Literally!"
Leris whispered, "No." The young teenager was really weak, weak to the point of passing out. They watched their son lose consciousness and laughed cruelly. A police officer knocked on their door.
They answered it, and the cop said, "What's going on??" He looked inside and noticed Leris lying unconscious on the floor.
He gasped and said, "What did that kid do to you!?"
Cade lied, "He tried to kill us, so we beat him up."
May said, "Yeah! It was horrible!" The cop barged in and went over to Leris.
He noticed the plate with a single pea. "Are you... starving him!?"
May looked at Cade, and whispered, "He doesn't believe us."
Cade lied, "No, he ate everything else." The cop glared at him. "You're lying."
Chapter Two- The Threat[]
Cade picked up Leris and growled, "If you don't leave, I will choke Leris to death. Without mercy."
The cop said, "No! You can't kill your own son!"
Leris's cruel father repeated, growling, "If you don't get out, I'll kill Leris. End of story." The cop left, not wanting to leave the young car with those jerks of parents. He was barely four feet away when he heard a soft voice pleading for mercy. He looked through a break in the curtain, and May was choking Leris!
He heard Cade yell, "Kill him, May!"
May said, "No, the cops'll find out about it." The cop was watching the scene in shock and horror. May carelessly threw her son to the ground. The cop sneaked around the house, and May laughed as she violently beat her helpless son!
The cop murmured, "Why are they doing this??"
He whispered into the walkie-talkie, "I need someone over at Trucktown 634! Major abuse of a young teen!"
His boss replied, "What are they doing?"
"They're starving, suffocating, and beating him!"
"Wait, what!?"
"Yep. Wait, are they planning to poison the poor kid now!"
"We'll be right over!"
"OK!"
The cop watched in horror as they put a green liquid on a medium piece of chicken. It turned it slightly green. They put it on the teenager's plate. He woke up and saw it.
His parents said, "Enjoy!" Leris happily dug into it, and collapsed, unconscious and close to dying. His parents laughed coldly, and threw the kid outside!
Chapter Three- Finally Arrested![]
The cop hastily drove to the front and picked up Leris. He carried the young teenager to the Hospital, struggling to carry him. When he got to the large building, he sighed with relief, both that Leris would get help and that he wouldn't have to carry the rather-heavy car. Then again, he was 1,197-Ibs and being a cop, pretty strong. He gently dropped the young car on the ground of the Hospital, breathing a sigh of relief. A Hospital worker gasped when she set her eyes on the nearly-dying teenager.
"Is he... okay?"
The cop replied sadly, "No. He was starved, suffocated, beaten, and then poisoned. All by his parents."
The young adult said, "Oh my gosh!" She had the smaller blue car put on a stretcher. He was put into Hospital Room 16. The cop went back to 634 and noticed his fellow officers surrounding the small house.
One of them, a female human, was yelling through a microphone, "Come out, or we'll force you out!"
May replied, "We didn't abuse him! We swear! We love him with all our hearts!"
Officer Vaner, our main character's savior, angrily curled his tire into a fist and said under his breath, "Those liars deserve death."
He drove over there with anger and said, "Don't believe Mrs. I-Like-to-Beat-the-Living-****-Out-of-my-Son. I saw her, also her husband, starve, abuse, and poison their 13-year-old son. Also, her husband threatened to kill him if I didn't leave. They want their son to die. They want their son to die." A male police car broke the door down and arrested the couple. Cade glared at Officer Vaner and May had the my-plan-has-been-foiled look on her front. Unfortunately, this is not the end.
Chapter Four- A New Supporter[]
Officer Vaner visited Leris (they thought it was a bad name! OK, why they chose the name was cruel), but the small blue car was still out like a light. He took his young friend's tire, holding it tightly.
Leris woke up, murmuring, "Who are you?" his words barely above a whisper.
The cop replied, "I'm Officer Peter Vaner, and I rescued you from your parents. They threw you out after you passed out because of a poisoned chicken."
Leris's electric-blue eyes widened. He asked, still very quietly, "Who will I stay with?"
Officer Vaner said, "Me until someone decides to adopt you." He gave Leris's tire one last squeeze and left, smiling at the teen. Four days later, Officer Vaner went to the youth's room, seeing him asleep. He squeezed Leris's tire.
When the young teen woke up, Officer Vaner quietly told him, "You're getting adopted today! Let's visit the family you'll be with." Leris mouthed yes. The officer gently lifted the kid playfully out of bed. Leris gripped tightly onto the older car's tire. Officer Vaner thought, Leris is getting stronger. That's good. A green car was waiting for the cop and Leris.
He noticed them holding tires, and said, "Family ties?"
Officer Vaner said sadly, "No. He was badly abused by his biological parents."
Leris whispered quietly, "Yes." Both only heard the S.
Officer Vaner said, "Can I see your house? I want to come over. To visit Leris sometime." Leris looked innocently up at the cop, his eyes saying "please do". The car thought, Leris. So that's the kid's name. Officer Vaner followed Ferin Gaxier, Leris still not letting go of his tire. When they approached the medium-sized house, the young car's grip tightened, as if he was afraid or nervous. The cop thought, Has he crossed this building before? He gently asked the question on his mind.
Leris whispered, "Yes."
Chapter Five- Suspicious House[]
The cop noticed the closer the trio got to the building, the tighter the grip got. It started to set off some red alerts for the cop.
Before leaving the 13-year-old with Ferin, he asked in whisper tones, "When have you seen this house?"
Leris said quietly, "When Mom and Dad left me with him when I was 11. He... hurt me." The cop quickly glanced at the green car. Ferin said, "What is it, officer?" sensing the glance.
The cop went over to him and murmured, "Leris said you hurt him when he was 11. Is this true?" Ferin thought, Ugh, that stupid kid gives away everything.
He replied, "No. Why would I hurt a kid badly abused by his parents?" He threw a dagger-glare at Leris. The young car looked down sadly.
Officer Vaner looked at Leris and gently said, "I'm gonna go now, okay?" He gripped Leris's smaller tire.
Leris whispered, "Don't leave me." The cop felt bad at leaving the 13-year-old, but he knew he had to go.
"Bye, Leris," he said gently. When the cop was out of earshot, Ferin roughly pulled the teen in the house, not caring if Leris got hurt.
He tied the innocent car to a railing, and said, "If you tell your precious cop friend that you're getting hurt here, you will get punished. Harshly. I'm the boss here, and you, well, let's just say you don't matter much." He gestured to an ant crawling on the floor.
"Worth as much as that ant." He crushed the poor insect. Tears welled up in Leris's eyes at being told he wasn't worth much (also he felt kind of bad for the ant). He looked at the ant. "Worth as much as that ant" played over and over in his mind. Leris thought, Is that saying I'll be killed if I disobey? He seriously hoped not. Ferin left Leris tied up on the railing, who pleaded to be set free. Soon, dinner approached, and he still was tied up. He smelled beef being cooked and struggled against his bonds. As Ferin headed toward him, hope rose in his heart that he'd be set free for dinner.
Chapter Six- Released[]
Instead, Ferin went over to Leris to yell, "Shut up!" in his front. Leris felt hungry as the smell of beef drifted over to him.
He whispered, "Please. I'm hungry."
Ferin yelled, "I don't care, stupid!" He punched the helpless teen. And hard.
Leris murmured, "Officer Vaner..." Ferin went over to the stove and pulled out the beef, waving it in front of Leris. He went over to the table, placing it down. Leris looked hungrily at the food. After dinner, Leris was finally released, to his happiness.
He sadly went up-ramp, but Ferin rudely yelled, "Down here, idiot!" He partially threw Leris down into the basement, not turning on the light. He locked the basement door. Leris looked for a bed of some sort, but couldn't find one. He stumbled back to the light switch and turned it on. There was nothing, not even a separation off the cold, hard concrete. Leris lay down, feeling depressed. Eventually, he fell asleep but still was cold. Leris shivered in the damp basement. At 8:00 AM, Ferin unlocked the door and poor Leris drove out really fast.
"School! Now!" he shouted. Leris willingly went to school, knowing that he would be safe there.
When he got to school, one of his classmates in Math said, "Hey, idiot! You smell bad!" At that comment, Leris self-consciously went through the large, crowded hallway. He was silently going to the first period, which was ELA.
Mrs. Kerin gently said, "Hello, Leris." He silently waved back.
He asked in a whisper, "Do I smell bad?" She noted the musty smell. When everyone got inside, the teacher and Leris stayed by the lockers.
She said, "Where are you living right now?"
Leris answered, "In a house where I'm not taken care of." He sniffed sadly. Mrs. Kerin gave him a sad look.
"Are you sleeping in a bedroom, or not?"
He replied, "Nope, in a basement. With nothing." He looked up at his teacher.
"I'm so hungry!"
Chapter Seven- The Loving Teacher[]
The teacher told him, "You can have a snack after class, OK?"
Leris whispered, "Okay."
They went inside, and Deran, the one who called Leris smelly, yelled, "Guys! Mr. Smelly is late again!"
Mrs. Kerin said with a stern tone, "Actually, no. I was talking to him."
Deran jeered, "For what? Being smelly?" Mrs. Kerin sighed and ignored the 12-year-old.
An 11-year-old who was two days away from her birthday said, "Der, stop being mean."
Deran replied, "Shut up, Cadence."
Cadence whispered to Leris, "You're not smelly." Leris sent a silent "thank you" to her. She thought, Leris smells musty. That's not good. She passed a paper to Leris that said "Why do you smell musty? Whats going on at home?" He wrote on the back of the slip "I have to sleep in a musty basement and also locked in it for a long time", He passed it back. She wrote "Thats not good", Leris wrote "I know". Cadence replied "Is there any thing I can do to help?" Leris wrote back "I dont think so". Deran snatched the paper from Cadence, reading what they've written. He wrote "Leris deserves to be thrown out" and gave it to the poor kid. He read the awful sentence and was hurt. Tears dripped onto the paper, and Mrs. Kerin noticed her depressed student.
She held up her tire and said, "Wait a minute." She went over to Leris, asking what was wrong. He gave her the paper and she read the messages. She came across Deran's, and a sad and mildly horrified expression came over her front.
She turned to Deran and said, "Come with me in the hallway." She talked to Deran about how he was treating Leris. At the end of class, she gave Leris a snack to get him fed.
Chapter Eight- Returning Home[]
After the school day, Leris drove home, sad he would have to return to a life of pain and getting trapped.
Ferin sighed and said, "You're back."
Leris whispered, "What's wrong with that?"
The soon-to-be 29-year-old shouted, "You know I don't care about you!" He aggressively took Leris and threw him into the basement! He shut the door, locked it, and cut the wire connecting the light switch to the powerbox, leaving Leris in utter darkness. Leris shivered violently, as the wire somehow provided some warmth. He cried there, feeling so low that he felt that not one person loved him. He didn't go to sleep until 6:45, as the little warmth was gone. He was woken up at 8:00, getting no more than one hour and 15 minutes of sleep.
Ferin opened the door and yelled, "Wake up, idiot!" Leris, not hearing him, kept sleeping.
The 28-year-old, not liking to be ignored, drove down and angrily yelled, "Loser, if you don't wake up, I'll force you to wake up!" Leris woke up, but not without physical pain. Ferin had hit the young teenager, and hard. Leris left the basement, pleading for food. Unfortunately, the cruel car said no, and Leris neared fainting. 20 minutes after leaving the medium-sized home, Leris fainted of hunger and dehydration. A female car called the Hospital, shocked. A male ambulance quickly arrived, having the car lift the underweight 13-year-old into the back.
The female said hysterically, "I saw the kid fall, and his eyes closed. He looked to be no more than 13 or 14."
The ambulance frowned and said, "Someone that young should NOT be fainting in the middle of the street."
Leris was taken to the Hospital, and another ambulance, a female, was in shock at the young patient. "What happened!?" she gasped.
The ambulance, let's just say Wyatt Verib, replied, "A female car saw the youth fall to the ground, and was pretty upset about it. She was hysterical."
Chapter Nine- Hospitalized[]
Leris was taken to Hospital Room 18 and as soon as the nurses found out what was wrong, they had the young car fed and given much-needed water. He was sadly, severely dehydrated. Like, on a dangerous level. They also found out that he was kept alive on a bag of chips. A doctor came into the room as soon as Leris woke up. She gave a granola bar to him, and Leris happily ate it. He spotted the water and drank it. As soon as he was done, Doctor Finer quizzed him on what happened.
Leris replied, "My parents, abused me badly and starved me as well, so a cop rescued me. I was adopted by a guy who doesn't care about me. He locks me in the basement after school and starves me as well. The first day, he tied me to a railing and kept me there until nighttime, telling me I'm worth nothing. He killed an ant to demonstrate that."
The doctor said, "Ouch! How old are you?"
Leris said in his quiet fashion, "13, 14 in six days."
She said, "No one should be told they mean nothing, especially your age!" Leris suddenly felt very lonely, like no one was there for him.
He whispered, "I need a friend. That's my own age."
Dr. Finer asked, "How many friends do you have?"
Leris sadly replied, "Two, if you count the 11-year-old I talked to. If you don't... then just one."
The doctor asked, "Who's your first friend?"
Leris replied, "The cop who saved me."
The 34-year-old replied, "Oh... OK." She felt sad for the depressed kid she was taking care of. She gave the young car a book called 'I Love You'. It was a fairly long romance book, but with nothing bad besides kissing, and even that... Well, it's a teenager-safe book. On the inside cover, Dr. Finer had written, "For a kid abandoned, abused, and forgotten. For a kid that needs love and care. For a kid who just wants to be loved, but does not get the care they want. Here's a gift for you: To make you feel loved.
XOXO, Dr. Mallory Finer"
Leris smiled at the doctor, feeling touched by the note. He felt exactly that way, He wanted to be loved, but was deprived of that. And food, for that matter.
She said, "Turn to the back", grinning. He turned there, and M&Ms were sitting there. He grinned widely, happy that she cared enough to give him a book with a sweet note and M&Ms.
Chapter Ten- Visited[]
Leris was sleeping peacefully in the Hospital bed when the nurse opened the door. Leris opened his right eye to see who it was.
She said, “A cop, Officer Peter Vaner, wants to visit you.” Leris fully opened his eyes. He smiled happily and showed off his new gift excitedly.
Officer Vaner smiled softly and said, “Nice…”
The worker said, “You know Officer Vaner?”
Leris said, “Yes, he’s the one who rescued me from my parents.”
She gripped the kid’s tire and said, “You had to be saved from your parents?”
Leris replied, “Yes, they… starved and abused me.” Her tire flew to her grille.
“That’s awful!”
Leris whispered, “It was awful. I was hurt, abused, for asking for more food when they gave me one single pea.” Officer Vaner squeezed his other tire.
The worker said, “I hope you got adopted, then!”
Leris replied, “I did, but my adopter doesn’t care about me.”
Chapter Eleven- Birthdays[]
Leris then realized that it was his young friend's birthday. He went on YouTube and wished her a happy birthday, as that was the only social media site she could go on. He was painfully aware that his birthday was going to be horrible. He knew Ferin didn't care even a tiny bit about him. Ferin's birthday... Well... He didn't know what that was going to be like. He sighed sadly. A nurse asked what was wrong.
Leris's sad reply was, "My birthday... You know how they're usually happy and fun?"
The nurse replied, "Yes.."
Leris continued, "Well, mine are not, ya know, happy and fun. To me, a birthday just means my life is gonna get more painful." The nurse looked sad for him. This 13-year-old car, barely past a child, was already suffering greatly. What a sad realization.
Chapter Twelve- Sent Home[]
The horrendous day of having to return to a neglectful household approached. Officer Vaner and Dr. Gager tried to convince the Hospital that the home he was in was neglectful and cruel, but it did not work. They sent him home to Ferin anyway, who'd been hoping the kid died so he wouldn't have an innocent teen in the house.
Instead of being met with warmth and kindness like Leris deserved to get, all he got was, "UGH I WAS HOPING YOU WOULD'VE DIED," and being thrown into a cold basement. He sighed sadly, feeling unloved and forgotten by everyone. Then, Officer Vaner came by and knocked on the door.
Ferin sighed and coldly lied, "He was murdered on the way here."
He said, "Nice try, but I know he wasn't. He had an escort. I need to see the lil' guy."
"FINE COME IN."
He looked around the home. "Wait- Where's Leris?" Leris heard him when laying near the door sadly and pounded on the basement door.
"IS HE SERIOUSLY LOCKED IN THE BASEMENT!? FREE HIM FROM THERE RIGHT NOW OR YOU'LL BE ARRESTED!!!"
Ferin sighed loudly and unlocked it. Leris looked sick now from mold, mildew, and other basement-dwellers.
Officer Vaner looked horrified and said softly, "It's OK now..."
Ferin sneered. "No, it isn't." He started BEATING the helpless and sick car IN FRONT of Officer Vaner! He tied him to the railing so he couldn't save Leris from an awful fate. Leris's electric-blue eyes widened in pain and he cried with each lash. He grinned evilly, happy at the pain he was causing to Leris. Soon, each lash started to draw gasoline and the police officer felt sick and horrified the car would be so cruel. He finally stopped an hour later when young Leris was near-death. Officer Vaner teared up as the small car stopped moving and totally lost consciousness. He thought the car has been killed by the horrible treatment. And he felt utterly helpless that he couldn't save Leris. Another cop came into an adult car laughing over a small blue car's unconscious body with a blackened belt in his tire and Officer Vaner crying and tied up. She was horrified by what she saw. Vaner noticed her and pleaded to be set free and Ferin was arrested for abusive murder. She arrested the adult car, who kicked Leris too. She took him to jail and set Vaner free. A human doctor came in and knelt at Leris's side.
"He's still alive, but if the little guy doesn't get to the Hospital soon... He could die." The female cop's tire flew to her grille.
"No, please!" She called an ambulance and she, too, was horrified by the young car's condition.
The Hospital boss complained, "But we only sent him back three hours ago!" Then he caught sight of the little blue car and paled.
"Oh..."
Chapter Thirteen- Saving His Life[]
A doctor came in and asked what happened. Vaner told him everything with sadness.
"WHAT!? BUT HE'S JUST A CHILD!!!"
"I know... It's so sad that they're willing to be so cruel!" He teared up.
The doctor sighed sadly. "I know, right... It's SOO hard hearing the stories of abuse victims... Because you know they're upset and traumatized... And you see their pain... Cuts SOO deep.." He teared up as well.
"I feel ya... Leris doesn't deserve to be beaten and starved! He deserves to live his life!"
"Agreed! There was this one kid, about two years older than Leris, that was horribly abused by his mother and father. He... died two months later after being beaten and neglected in that time... I found his lifeless body outside the door.,. It was awful for me, as Kevin was a favorite for me. Even after a year after his death, it's still extremely painful. He was only 15 years old..." He started to tear up more, "I got the news a month later from Kevin's friend that the teen's parents were celebrating his death.,. Allen said it was because 'a weight was lifted off their shoulders'... He was REALLY mad and came to me about it, knowing I had a close connection to Kevin."
"OUCH... Is Allen okay?"
"He's been trying to live his life, but after the passing away of Kevin, he'd been clinically diagnosed with depression..."
"That sucks... Hope he's getting better..."
"I've been too busy to check on Allen, but I honestly don't think he is..."
"Oh..." Vaner said and sighed sadly.
Chapter Fourteen- Waking Up[]
The two male cars turned to Leris when he murmured quietly, "Hungry..."
"He's awake!" Vaner said, hugging Leris. Leris looked at him with innocent lightning-blue eyes. "Hungry."
"OK... I'll call up the nurses." Vaner did so and they gave him something with all food categories besides unhealthy ones. He was very happy about the food and ate it quickly.
Vaner smiled and said, "I have to go, lil' guy... Dr. Range will keep you company."
"Why do you have to go?"
Vaner questioned whether it was a good idea to tell this vulnerable 13-year-old kid that somebody had been killed.
"Umm... Not good reasons," Vaner answered. He left to avoid more questions from the curious car.
"What-" Leris didn't finish his question. He looked at Dr. Range. "Why do you think he left?"
"Umm..."
"I want to play something."
"OK. Get down on the floor." He pulled out a board game and began playing it with the kid.
After the game[]
"I'M BAAACK!" sang Vaner, "Hey, Leris!"
"H-Hi."
"How are you doing?"
"B-Better..."
"Great! Umm, where do you think you're going to live?"
"I... Don't know... Certainly not my previous 'caretaker'..."
"First off, he's kinda in prison, second off, things got really bad so, umm, yeah."
Eventually, Leris got better. But where would he go?
Chapter Fifteen- The Streets Again[]
The Hospital let him go. But when they asked for a address, he replied sadly, "I don't have a home..."
They sent him to the foster centre. However, they said, "Oh, you're the kid no one really cares about. Oh well, c'mon in."
That did not help his depression. They sent him to a room as he waited for a adoptee. Days passed. Then weeks. He felt tears run down his hood. Two months later, the centre gave up on him. They left him outside, leaving him even more heartbroken.
"Please?" He pleaded, "I can't live on the streets!"
"BYYYYE!!! CYA!"
He sadly drove away, stating the phrase, "Is Love Real?"
He waited desparately for a family to take him in. After two days, he was also pleading for food. He approached a family, asking them to take him in and feed him. They glared at him and hurt him. He drove away sadly, without a caring family.
"S-Someone, please... I'm so hungry..." He went to the grocery store, and in desperation, stole a banana. Someone reported it and the owner came. He took the banana from the young teen and hit him. Then... Banned him from the store! Young Leris started to cry, waiting for people outside to adopt him. Unfortunately, all they saw was a worthless teenager who stole instead of what he actually was: A desperate and starving helpless young car looking for a family. One person threatened to shoot him! Fortunately, a cop stopped them. He asked what was wrong and Leris replied, "I just w-want a f-family to f-f-feed me!"
"Oh..." The cop said sadly, "We'll find a family for you, I promise." He took the extremely-hungry teenager to the adoption centre.
They said, "We aren't accepting him anymore! He's worthless!"
"W-Worthless? But all he wants is food and a family!"
"No food! No family! Just get rid of him! He belongs in Haven!" (In other words... They want poor Leris to die)
He looked down at the crying kid. "No. I refuse to give up. And ESPECIALLY KILL HIM!"
"If you won't, we'll have another person kill him."
"No! He's too young!"
"We don't care. He's worth nothing. And you can't change that."
"Not in Goddess's eyes. He's worth everything." (Goddess is a little g deity)
"I don't care what she thinks. We will not take him in. Period."
"You should care. Goddess and God determine your fate."
"Just go away. I could care less about religion." (Huh, well, you're doomed then- Me just casually talking to my characters)
One orphan saw Leris looking extremely sad. She drove over and hugged him, wanting to make him feel better. He looked at her, the pain in his electric blue eyes lessening.
Leris looked sadly as adults went into the centre and came out with kids. He felt sad he was being ignored. Then, a nice-looking couple said, "We can adopt the small blue-eyed car. How about that, Don?"
"Sure!"
Because Leris was a castaway, he was happy someone wanted to adopt him. However, all may not seem what it is...
Chapter 16- A Happier Kid[]
The couple took the kid to their home. They fed the starving kid. Leris smiled. Leah, Don's wife, smiled kindly at him. "Now pick a free bedroom." He looked around the house- There was two bedrooms- one in the basement and one upstairs. He picked the one upstairs. No more basements for him! He looked around the bedroom. It was very girly in colors of pink, purple, and red. He read the book he had gotten, going on the bed. Eventually, he fell asleep in the large blanket. The couple came in the room and saw him bundled up. They smiled.
