A small dragonet looked up at her mother, love brimming deep in her eyes. Faith, the mother, set her small dragonet down on the sandy beach that they were camping on. Faith sighed. If only you knew what would happen next, she thought as a sharp pang of sadness stabbed her heart. "Ahem." A voice from the shadows spoke. "Faith? Is that you?" Faith turned her head sadly. "Yes, it's me, Firemoon." Firemoon stepped out of the shadows into the moonlight. "Are you- are you ready to... uh.." Firemoon gestured to the small dragonet sitting on the sand. Faith walked over to the dragonet. "Yes. I am." Faith picked up the small dragonet and closed her eyes, and slowly opened them again. "I'm ready. I know she'll be safe with you, Firemoon." Firemoon rested her talon on the small dragonet's head. "Does she have a name?" she asked questionably. Faith hugged her dragonet briefly and looked deep in her eyes. "Lightwing. That's her name. Lightwing" Faith handed her dragonet to Firemoon and watched her fly away. A single tear, shining in the moon light, slipped down Faith's snout. She looked up at the moon, shining bright in the sky. I hope you will stay safe, my dear. I hope you never find out.. that you are the only animus to have ever existed in over a thousand years.

Chapter One[]
